How we score it
Every car MOT from 2023 to 2025, from DVSA records. We compare your car with cars like it, then show the share that failed.
94 in 100of the cars we rated safest passed their first MOT.
The cars we rated riskiest were 3.6 times as likely to fail, so the warning is worth acting on.
Tested on 2025 first MOTs it had never seen, from DVSA records.
Same make and model, at a similar age and mileage.
Older cars fail more often.
Cars that failed last time fail 44% of the time, against 24% for cars that passed.
Cars with any advisory fail 36% of the time, against 22% with none.
Most high-risk cars still pass, and a few low-risk cars fail. Use it to decide what to check first. A garage check is always the final word.
Ranking accuracy (AUC): 0.64 for first MOTs, 0.68 for repeat MOTs, tested on 2025 MOTs the model had not seen. We only show a number when at least 200 similar cars stand behind it.
